When you think of being helpful and supportive what feelings, sensations, thoughts or beliefs come forward? Often the associations are positive, such as feeling good and warm, or feeling valuable, loving, and like you are a good person and are making a difference. Now think about being helped and supported by others. What comes up in regards to that? For some it can feel good, and they're used to being helped and supported. For many people however, there can be negative or undesired associations such as being weak, needy, dependent, incapable, or incompetent. We are fed with notions such as "it is better to give than to receive." That idea alone can create an imbalance, creating a society where people are trained to be giving, but not trained or shown how to receive. It can create roles such as a "giver" or "helper" which often leads to only receiving help when people are desperate, on the verge of breakdown, or absolutely see no other option but to ask for support.
For many of us it is a time to step into being able to love and be loved, offer help and support and receive help and support, give gifts and receive gifts and more. To do this requires us to shed or release all the meaning and associations around the direction of the love, help and giving. Take a look at anywhere you value one more than the other, or feel better about one than the other. What would it be like to have ease with both? The invitation today is to step into allowing the gifting and receiving. If one feels more difficult or "not you" or not congruent with your past experience, here is your opportunity to choose again and welcome in something different.
So, take a moment to consider what it would be like to give and offer help and support with the same ease and enthusiasm as receiving help and support. Welcome this new circulation and flow. Acknowledge the past experience where this wasn't available, or possible, or where you felt blocked in gifting or blocked in receiving. We've all had the experiences of feeling like we had nothing to give, or that the people around us couldn't help us, or didn't want to, or even condemned us for having an issue, a problem, or a feeling that was inconvenient for them. We are living into a world with new possibilities. We can all be on the creative edge of this. Who or what can contribute to you opening up the pathways? From the mental level everything is complex, and we strive to figure things out, to know what to do, and to find out how to solve the problems in the world. Now more than ever it's time to dive in, below the noise of the mental experience and tune into the emotional experience and the body, bringing your attention and awareness to the earth, and to the collective fields that support life and thriving. The mental field is rooted in perceived separation. It makes it possible to induce feelings of being isolated and alone. When you drop into the body, find your breath, and tune into your feelings a whole different way of being emerges. It's not so complex and complicated. It's a breath at a time, a moment at a time, with awareness of the future.
We've been taught to try to figure out emotions, get rid of feelings states and manipulate ourselves to feel good, by thinking positive thoughts, and controlling the environment. Of course, this was a step from the reality of being a victim, however, at some point it's time to step into something greater. It's now more about getting good at feeling rather than being obsessed with feeling good. If you knew that you could feel anything and be okay how much more free would you be? We've been taught to avoid feeling, as though it is somehow keeping us from more important things. If we learn to approach feelings, be with that dimension of our experience here, and go even deeper into the energetic landscape our perception of reality completely changes.
Take a breath, drop into body awareness, acknowledge sensation, get curious about how else you can participate in something different being available here. We don't have to live in a reality where we are tossed and turned by the external noise or paralyzed by internal un-integrated remnants of trauma. Right now, ask to be loved, blessed, nourished and supported. Ask for the resources your require to thrive to show up. Ask for the people, places and things who can love, honour and acknowledge you and assist to express your gifts and greatness to show up. Now is the time.
