![]() Is it more fun for you to give or to receive? What if you could have as much fun and joy giving as you do receiving? Walking through the bookstore today the sounds of Christmas music rang in my ears and brought this subject to my attention. Remember all those times you received something from someone that you didn't really want? What did you decide based on that? Many of us have actually lost the joy of receiving. We were not allowed to not like what we were being given, we had to pretend it was a great gift, place a smile on our face and say thank you no matter what. Where else in life are we now doing that? What if we didn't have to do that anymore? What if now would could reclaim our ability to decipher what is fun and joyful for us to give and receive and start to ask for what we truly would like to have. What if it was time to fully open our hearts to know what is true for us? We don't have to pretend we love everything and secretly dislike what we have (or don't have). We can start to bring some awareness to what's really fun for us to have and invite a whole new experience of giving and receiving into our lives. Our past does not have to dictate our future, unless we choose to carry it forward. May we let go of the story around the gifts we were given (or not given) and open our arms to the gifts that are here for us now.
