Take a moment and notice if you have projected or decided how you will think and feel in the future. Notice if you have projected sameness or projected difference. What happens when we project or assume something about the future is that we start to behave now as though it's true. For instance, if you project that you will feel exhausted again tomorrow (sameness), it can lead you to feel frustrated today. You're actually in reaction to something that hasn't actually happened, yet if you buy that it will be the case, it will influence your thoughts, feelings and behaviors now is such a way that it is much more likely it will turn out that way. Amazing right? In the opposite instance, of projecting that it will be different tomorrow, it can work to your benefit in some cases, if you do believe it wholeheartedly to the extent that you shift the way you think, feel and act in the present moment. In other cases, if you project that it will be different tomorrow, and hold that as an assumption, it may lead to you putting off what's available for you to be or do differently now.
So, what is the invitation here, you may ask. The invitation is to release the projection of sameness or difference in the future, and shift to being curious about how it will be in the future. I wonder how you will think, feel and act. I wonder what will show up in your life. The more we come out of projection and into a space of curiosity, the more we reclaim the ability to act in the moment of now, which gives us much more influence over how our future unfolds. It's not about controlling the future, it's more about showing up as an active participant and being in a dance with life to bring forth what you most desire. In this moment what is most important to you? What contributes to you feeling most empowered or whole or joyful, or loved, or trusting or fulfilled? And, as you read this, you may become more aware of what your beliefs are, what it "is about" for you, and what's most alive in your experience now.
What I'm bring to light here, is the tendency many of us have to act in our lives now based on what we've decided will or won't happen in the future, or in resistance to how we've decided we're going to feel, or in anticipation of how we've decided we're going to feel. This approach leads to being fixated mentally, and looping on ideas or thought forms. If this is the case for you and you would like to have a different experience, there is the choice to begin the practice of becoming present to how you think and feel now, being curious about how it will be in the future, and choosing to be an active participant in the direction your life flows. This approach leads to a greater potential to receive gifts and new possibilities and surprises, or having things working out better than you could have imagined. And often, the more present to life we are, the more we can access the joy, and relaxation, and appreciation for being alive.
